Y’all don’t beat yourselves up for being in the blahs. Roll with it. It’s a hiccup, a bump in the road, inevitable.
As for caffiene, I remember somewhere that it’s kinda like smoking cigarettes in that it suppresses your appetite. I amy be remembering that wrong but I know a good cup of coffee is a fine substitute for a snack, for me.

Well, this will make a world of difference!

Well, I wasn’t supposed to, but I did. I bought a Diet Pepsi Max and drank the thing with much pleasure. It’s not the caffeine I’m not suppose to have, it’s the artificial sweeteners (makes me crave more food – which I thought was a bunch of fooey but it’s totally true with me). Anyway, WOW! Talk about not having the funk anymore. I mean, I feel funky, but in a totally better way.
I just got back from the pool where I swam and swam and swam. No kids, no husband. Just me. My husband came home and said after dinner (which he so sweetly prepared), “how bout’ you go swim and I’ll put the kids to bed!” Yeehaw.
I’m feeling better. Caffeine does wonders. So does the exercise (although I really hate to admit it).
Plus, the moon is out and is full and is a beautiful shade of red.

I think its a combo of not enough caffeine and PMS, but I’m really feeling and wondering if this is at all worth it. I mean, I’m not stupid. I know it is, especially now that there are true health problems. But looking at that scale is very depressing. And I’m not doing so good not sticking to a real diet. Like Rootie said, just avoiding foods all together is easier than trying to limit oneself. I’m just in a funk and wanted everyone to know it.
IS there anything that can’t be improved by frying it? No? I didn’t think so.
Husband o Mine, in his infinite wisdom, purchased a deep fryer. For making hot wings. Apparently it will also work great for my favorite fried delight: fried okra. I understand you can make deep fried snickers bars.
I’ve shown great self control already where desserts are concerned, I can do it with fried things as well. I’ll imagine the weird feeling of crisco coating my mouth, and picture in my mind what my butt looks like in a bathing suit. That’ll work. I hope.

I am very excited. The jeans I put away last Spring are loose. Like, a size too big loose. Here’s what I’ve done to get this way: No sweets, period (ok, I had a DQ strawberry sundae yesterday, but it was CJ’s birthday thing, and the first dessert I’ve had in 2 months), no seconds on anything, smaller portions. Nothing terribly scientific, but it’s working. And lots of water. I have to have mine with ice, for some reason I can’t swallow room temp water.
My hip still bothers me, but at least he can’t say I’m not trying.

I’m doing pretty good with keeping to water. Mr. W keeps offering me coffee- the first time I folded, but the second time I just put it aside (he fills the mug before asking) for a couple of hours and fulfilled the water requirement first.
Wish I could say I’m doing as well with exercise. We’ve quit the nightly situps and, although the kids did 20 minutes’ walk on Tuesday, I chose to clean up the homeschooling materials instead. Boo, Ruthie!

When you’re craving a snack, think about what type of taste you want- sweet, sour, salty, spicy. (If it’s salty, are you actually thirsty?) Is there a lower-calorie, or smaller-portion, substitute that will satisfy you? If so, go for it! If not, go for a very small portion of the original craving.
WeightWatchers says lots of dieters try the low-cal version first, no matter what. When it doesn’t satisfy, they eat a large portion of their original “want it NOW”, usually doubling the calories they would’ve consumed if they had just thought it through and taken enough to satisfy the craving.
I suppose I could start asking “How little a portion will satisfy this feeling?” as I approach food….

What was I thinking? The company that resulted in Supersize Me would produce low-cal iced coffees? Granted, the savings are big compared to Starbuck’s, but so is the FAT content!
Since I’ve had 2 cups of java already today, I’d better head back to the original plan: start with water, stay with water. One home-made (therefore less calories) iced coffee a day for me, thanks!

You know that Ladies workout place- Curves? Well, there’s a book by the founder, with a couple of diet plans that are astonishingly simple to follow. There’s a low calorie and a low carb diet. I sorta follow the low calorie one because I am not happy on low carb things. I tried Atkins and it nearly ended my marriage.
Anyway, I think occasionally I’ll put a recipe up. My favorite is the one I put in the comments to Debbies last post.
The main bit with the diet plan is that you eat as much green veggies as you want, whenever you want. If nothing else it keeps you regular. I eat mine for lunch-4 cups or so of mixed greens, turkey meat, homemade vinagrette.
You also must eat breakfast. It can be a Slimfast shake, or a carton of yogurt, but you always always eat breakfast. My doctor told me that one, as well.
Anyway- more recipes in the future.
